Stephanie Glanzer
Hey, Sarah! It's Stephanie Glanzer, here! One of your mom's former piano students! My mom called me tonight and told me that this year will be your mom's 25th piano recital! Wow! That is amazing! She said your dad called explaining that you are all trying to put together a surprise for the recital! I would love to be a part of it!
Your mom was such a huge part of my childhood and teenage years, and is the reason I teach piano lessons myself! I am getting ready to have my 1st piano recital with my students, and here, she is having her 25th! I have been thinking of her a lot lately, as I teach my students, and plan the recital! Please let me know what I can do! I would love to help celebrate your mom!!!
I don't remember my very first lesson with Mrs. Wolf, although, I do remember I was instantly at ease with her! I think back fondly of all the places she and John lived, as our piano lessons would get a different setting as the years passed! I remember the little apartment by the college and the little yellow house by Kearney Catholic, and then came the bigger house on Avenue I. I also remember when she told me she was expecting Sarah! I was SOOO excited! I remember being excited as the boys came along as well. And then, when I was in high school, I got to babysit a few times!
Most of our piano lessons went very smoothly, and I was always happy to be there. However, there was one lesson when I was a junior or senior in high school, when I was going through some difficult times. I remember that I got very upset while I was trying to play a piece. Mrs. Wolf was all calm and reassuring. She just stopped the lesson right there, and let me talk through the rest of our half hour. I have never forgotten that! She probably doesn't even realize what an impact that made on me!
I took piano lessons from Mrs. Wolf for about 9 years, or so, all the way through my senior year in high school. I then went on to pursue a bachelor’s in Elementary Education/Special Education at Concordia University, Seward, NE. I also completed a minor in instrumental music (piano). I always thought I would have music as a hobby, and become a Special Ed. teacher. But, no, music became an important part of my teaching career! I am now a second grade teacher in Gilbert, Arizona. I also teach band, K-2 music and choir, play in a flute choir, and yes, teach piano lessons! Every time I sit down next to one of my piano students, I think of Mrs. Wolf. She set such a wonderful example for me! I am now planning my very first recital. I am going to have each student play a solo, and a duet! (Gee-where did I get that idea!?!) Mrs. Wolf, congratulations! You have been such an inspiration to me! Thank you for sharing your love and passion for music with me! I know I never practiced as much as I should have, but I am teaching music now, because of your encouragement and example!
I pray that I can be a blessing to my students, as you have been to yours! Congratulations and God's Blessings!
